Hi! I’m Crystal and I’m the face behind Sew Generously Studio.

The story of Sew Generously Studio began because of the pandemic. I was stuck at home with two young kids and needed to find a hobby to keep me sane. I got my sewing machine out to start making masks. After I made a bunch of those I decided it would be fun to try and make a quilt. I watched and read a bunch of tutorials online and made my first quilt. I loved the process and fell in love with quilt making.

Before I knew it I was following a bunch of quilters on Instagram and decided to make my own account. I learned what a pattern tester was and thought it sounded like fun, so I tested several quilts for other quilters. I was intrigued by the process of pattern writing and took a course on it to learn how to write my own. It took me way longer than it should have to get my first patterned launched, because well… life. But here I am now and I plan to continue to write patterns as well as create fun quilty items.

When I am not quilting I am also a mom of two boys (currently 8 and 6), I do some property management for my family’s business, and I have my education in social work. I worked as an adoptions and foster care social worker before having my second child and plan to go back to working in social work again at some point. I’m very involved in my local mom’s club. Some other hobbies I enjoy are running, reading, drinking lots of coffee, and watching lots of mindless tv lol.

If you’ve made it this far I’m pretty impressed lol, but either way I am glad to have you here. Feel free to reach out anytime if you ever have any questions.
